If Trees Could Speak

bakun.jpg

Edited by Juliana Lim

Just imagine if the trees could talk. Its like a battle between the trees of the forest of Bakun, Bintulu and project developers to built  the Bakun Dam. The trees are doomed if they lose. As for us, we are able to defend ourselves, and we will not give up the fight  easily but for the trees, they are helpless.

What makes these trees deserve this punishment from mankind? Is it because they steal natural resources such as oxygen or carbon dioxide  suppose to be for only humans or in the way of the development of infrastructure? These trees are helpless, no one to represent them in this dilemma, and even there are advocators, there is little that they could do.  For 36 years, the doomed day finally arrived. In 1996, the grave news is that all the trees of the forest of Bakun, Bintulu about the land size of Singapore island are to be destroyed. Another forest cleared for the development. The home of the helpless trees will soon be flooded with water, all the trees will be submerged and drowned, eventually to make way for the Bakun dam.

Thus, if ONLY the trees could speak, and humans  to  heed the cries and grievances of each and every plant in existence in that forest, perhaps this phenomenon may not happen…..

Life beyond this wall will soon to be destroyed!
