None left in the pool, not a single one!

I have been told by my friend that thousands of this plant was collected and treated in the international market; yeah, there are none left in the pool, not a single one! I had even heard a story about the collector is a foreigner but after all, who cares? Do you?

Take a look at this photos that were taken by me recently, no crypts left, only dead leaves litter.

We search thru the place and were lucky to found this little one.

And do you want to know how it look like 2 years back? Here are the photos for your comparison.

Now we all know that the glorious scene has gone forever but what can we do?

Nope, it will not come back, the reason is the roots are gone due to this rude ways of collection.
Herman and I always practice collecting crypt by pinching the root just enough for us to grow it but also giving chance for them to re-grow in short period of time.

This is one reason why we dont like to share info on crypt locations. Not only environmental destruction but also over collecting is another threat to crypts. Just look at it! Its all gone and I dont think its the dry season coz I’ve been there every time I visit Sarawak even at dry seasons and they are always there…this is definitely the work of some @##! foreigner or big time aquarium farms. Serious local crypt nuts like us, and foreigners like Nakamoto dont do things like this. Now I wonder what crypt is next!

    Dear Sir,

I had work with Cryptocoryne sp. in Peninsula Malaysia about 10 years ago. Now I am working with plant tissue culture. I am thinking to do some tissue culture work on Cryptocoryne to help conserving it as what I know a lot of population in wild had lost. Currently I am looking for some plant material to start with. Maybe we can work together in some way. Please contact me at choohau@gmail.com if you are interested.
    Thanks!

    BR
