We found this C.purpurea just after the cut off point of mangrove, the substrate is purely mud. Most of the plants are in submerge condition during high tide and appeared emerge in low tide.

Nice site. And nice filed trip. However it is sad to hear that they are clearing the forrest for plantation purpose.
The same thing is happening to Tasek Bera WetLand. The government was trying to promote ecotourism to safe the wetland but it is poorly organised. If a local Malaysian like me getting lost trying to locate it and it cost a few scatch in my car just to get there. I doubt anyone will recommend the place. In the end, no ecotourism money, local aborigin prefer plantation.

Lacking of passion and misadministration are the major reasons for the failure. To be frank, I’m not surprise but ringing job to the aborigine is the priority.
