Picture in wild:
C. Auriculata is a rare species as they are only found in Sarawak Sarikei region. At one time the crypts found in Kuching was thought as C. Auriculata but later was confirmed as C. Ferruginea.
I’m like the plant at my first sight, the melon-like marking on the leaves and beautiful red flower attracted me. Herman and I discovered a few sites in the pass and we will display the photos as we go along
The photo below in one of the oldest site discovered by a pioneer. The plant look pretty stunted due to the exposure and humidity of the surrounding.
Close up shot on the plant, showing the rounded leaves which are thicker as describe in Cypts pages.
We found a very beautiful C. Striolata when we approached the up stream. Look at the clear marking on the leaves.
Second location. We call this “giant auri”. The plants found in this site are the largest we have ever seen.
The Spathe.
A patch of C. Striolata found at the tributary. The leaves are redish color.
Third location.
The leaves are very different from the previous one, these are thinner and have sharper edge.
The humidity is higher and dimmer in this place
The Flower, looks stunning!
